We all know that maths performance has been declining alarmingly for many years, but people in government should at least be able to do calculations.
More and more evidence is emerging that the statistics being released by governments to their citizens are increasingly questionable and unreliable. The errors are not random, but appear to be manipulated for political gain. Judge for yourself. (Related article: John Fund and Hans von Spakovsky: Prepare for another mail-in voting fiasco)
Let's start with the crime statistics. During the debate, former President Donald Trump said crime was out of control, to which Vice President Kamala Harris countered by citing government statistics from the FBI that show crime rates are falling.
But Jeffrey Anderson, a former director of the Bureau of Justice Statistics, noted that violent crime in urban areas has skyrocketed since 2019. Write The Wall Street Journal reported that “the violent crime rate in 2023 was 19% higher than in 2019. The urban violent crime rate increased by 40%, and the urban property crime rate increased by 26%.
Why do leftists keep saying crime is going down? A big reason is that the FBI figures only measure crimes reported to the police. Over half of violent crimes are in the do not have It was reported that Anderson called. A new era of “lax law enforcement policies” in urban areas.
Police in big cities also have an incentive to undercount crimes to make their own performance look better.
Next, the jobs data: The Bureau of Labor Statistics admitted last month that it had overestimated job growth. More 800,000 jobs were created. Also, last year alone, the government inflated its initial monthly headline numbers by nearly 500,000 jobs – an overcount of more than 1 million. There have been over-reportings of jobs in 10 of the past 13 months.
So President Joe Biden gets a lot of press, and then a major blunder happens when no one is paying attention.
These aren't just random errors. Did the Biden Department of Labor manipulate the data? Probably.
And then there was the decennial Census Bureau population survey. The 2020 Census numbers were wildly wrong. The bureau acknowledges.
In an analysis called the Post-Census Estimates Report released in 2021, the Census Bureau Reported Which Recorded states States that overcounted and undercounted their populations. Republican-leaning states such as Florida, Texas, and Tennessee. Underrated About 1.5 million residents were overcounted. Like a blue state New York and Minnesota.Again, was this just an accident?
The miscount likely cost Republicans three electoral votes, meaning the presidential election and control of the House of Representatives could be decided by a vote count error.
These agencies are supposed to be politically independent and have historically been staffed by unbiased experts. all If the data is being distorted to benefit one party, one cannot help but wonder whether this is deliberate misrepresentation.
I hope I'm wrong and these are just innocent mistakes. But we all Washington politics has become highly politicized. Elections have become blood sports. “All is fair in love and war,” as the saying goes. And now politics are in the mix.
