When Florida was hit by severe storms and Hurricane Ian in 2022, Vice President Kamala Harris Requested “Communities of color” must be on the front lines of aid, which should be prioritized “in a way that provides resources based on equity.”
She repeatedly Similar claims, Distinguishing between “fairness” and equality“Not everyone starts in the same place,” he said. (Related article: Bob Unanu: Kamala Harris' food price war is an attack on freedom)
Of course, equality – giving everyone a fair chance – is a laudable, very American ideal. But “fairness” – forcing the same outcome regardless of ability or work ethic – is a very un-American concept. In fact, fairness is literally Marxist, and has caused misery everywhere it has been a social driver throughout history.
As part of Harris’s overall “fairness” radicalism, she repeatedly states: She supports race-based reparations. Harris, who has denounced American slavery and discrimination over decades past, co-sponsored the bill in the Senate. Establish a compensation investigation committee.
But a new Michigan poll makes clear how strongly Americans reject this radical and discriminatory idea: Punishing people for crimes they did not commit, historical wrongs that often occurred long before they were born, is a cruel injustice.
In that key battleground state, Only 28% of voters 60% support reparations, 60% oppose, and 12% are unsure. voteThe survey, which had a larger sample of Democrats than Republicans, was conducted by TIPP for American Greatness. The poll included over 1,000 registered voters and 741 likely voters in Michigan and had a margin of error of +/- 3.7 percentage points. Importantly, the survey found that those opposed to reparations are much stronger, with 48% strongly opposed, while only 16% of Michigan voters strongly support reparations.
Not surprisingly, among white voters who would pay these “punitive” taxes rather than receive them, only 18% support reparations, compared with 70% opposed. Similarly, among independents in this key battleground state, Only 19% support reparations On the other hand, 69% are opposed.
Given how close the overall presidential race in Michigan is, this issue could work to Trump's advantage by highlighting how extreme and outdated the California candidates are compared to the views of decent Midwesterners. The poll's topline numbers show Harris trailing by just 1% in multi-candidate races and by just 2% in two-candidate races.
With a slim lead, within the poll's margin of error, it's entirely possible that a polarizing issue like reparations could flip Michigan back to Trump's camp and secure his overall Electoral College victory.
When it comes to messaging on this critical issue, Trump and his allies should point out that campaigns of blame for historical wrongs only breed new discrimination through heightened social hostility. One only needs to look at South Africa today to see this reality.
Do we really want to go down the path of bitter race-based division by telling hard-working Hispanic, Asian and white Americans that they must make their black neighbors pay for crimes they did not commit?
As I’ve written before about Harris’ obsession with race: “Consider, for example, Harris’ own attitudes about race. [reparations] The question is, does she get paid half because she's half Indian and half black? Does it cancel out for her because she pays as Indian and receives as black? These questions seem ridiculous…because they are ridiculous! The very idea of race-based pay and preferential treatment is ridiculous and clearly anti-white, Hispanic and Asian.”
It is therefore important for Republicans to make a final push to highlight the Marxist doctrine of “fairness” and expose Harris' extremism on reparations, gaining electoral benefit in the process.
