Steve Kornacki Parts Ways With MSNBC

Steve Kornacki of NBC News will not return to MSNBC after 12 years following the network spinoff placement.

Popular political data sensation Kornacchi has agreed to stay with NBC News with his updated deal and expand his appearance throughout the network’s news and sports division, Los Angeles Times It has been reported. The agreement does not include employment at MSNBC. MSNBC has become a new corporate entity through parent company Comcast.

Comcast announced plans to spin-off MSNBC along with other networks after President Donald Trump lost former Vice President Kamala Harris in November 2024, after the network’s rating fell 53%.

According to the LA Times, the new deal marks Kornacki becoming an NBC contributor and winning the Chief Data Analyst title.

Kornacki’s departure from MSNBC marks another major shakeup of the network following the firing of former anchor Joy Reid in February. Reid, known for his racing obsession with the 7pm program, has been replaced by co-hosts Michael Steele, Simone Sanders Townsend and Alicia Menendez. On MSNBC, Kornacchi appeared frequently in the 2024 election, defeating the important vote counts of then-candidate Donald Trump, former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris. He also made a significant roll in the election coverage in 2020, spending record time in front of the touchscreen as the results took days to finalize.

According to the LA Times, the popular data guru began his career as a political writer and won a contributor gig on CNN. He joined MSNBC in 2012 as a co-host for the program “Cycle” and became a regular in the network lineup.

MSNBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
