4 warning weather: Here’s a recap of the active afternoon on Tuesday (7/11).







A storm began to form in the early afternoon, affecting much of the highlands and Santa Cruz and Cochise counties. Total rainfall is impressive in parts of southeastern Arizona, including a whopping 2.76 inches in Long Park, located in the Chiricahua Mountains near Fly’s Peak.

Southwest of Bisbee, there was a severe thunderstorm producing gusts of about 90 mph and hail up to 1 inch in diameter. More than 100 lightning strikes also occurred.

Most people didn’t get wet in Tucson, but Mount Lemmon, Eastside, Corona de Tucson, and Vail all got rain. There are also some road closures due to flooding, which will pose a major threat as the monsoon intensifies. Remember to always turn around to avoid drowning. Click here for notes.

Let’s take a look at the total rainfall across Southeast Arizona. There was some rain around Nogales International Airport, but unfortunately nothing was measured by the official Nogales rain gauge, the airport itself.Most of Cochise County is doing well with the exception of Wilcox, but storms are possible again this afternoon and evening, so stay alert for storms here for more information.
