Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) – Parts of Arizona felt the effects of the monsoon on Sunday night, but the Valley is still waiting for rain. A viewer sent us a video of rain in Morenci, northeast of Safford. Around 6:00 p.m., dust swept through the Casa Grande area, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a dust storm warning for most of the Phoenix area, but nothing actually happened. Our weather team has issued the first warning weather days for Sunday through Monday due to the storm.
Ongoing flash flood monitoring has been extended by the National Weather Service through most of Arizona until Wednesday. I am witnessing.
Tonopah area viewer Kelle Blatnik shared this video:
Arizona’s Family First Alert Weather Team issued a First Alert Weather Day Sunday through Monday in light of the storm.
West of Maricopa, part of State Route 238 flooded at 99th Street. ADOT had to close the road in both directions about 10 miles west of State Route 347. It reopened around 7:45pm.
