Strong highlights the region’s appointments to nationally recognized U.S. service academies

U.S. Representative Dale Strong recently expressed that appointing 22 students from Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District to the U.S. Academy of Service is one of his “biggest honors as a member of Congress.”

He highlighted that this accomplishment ranks among the top in the nation.

In fact, the district placed fourth nationally for the number of West Point candidates accepted from a single council district and took second place in the Southeast region.

Interestingly, Madison’s Bob Jones High School was the first to achieve a tie nationally, ranking first overall in the Southeast for West Point appointments from one high school.

Strong (R-Huntsville) remarked, “Each year, North Alabama nurtures young, patriotic leaders eager to step up and guide the next generation of military forces.” He added, “As a member of Congress, it is truly one of my greatest privileges to appoint students from across the Tennessee Valley to attend our nation’s prestigious service academy.”

He also extended gratitude to the cadets, midshipmen, and families of the class of 2029 for their commitment and service.

Strong will host their annual Academy Day, which includes recruiters from all military branches and admissions staff from each service academy.

This year’s event is scheduled for August 2nd, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
