Strong winds with slight rain chances for MLK Jr. Day

YUMA, Arizona (KYMA, KECY-TV) – Possible rain remains in the forecast through Tuesday night, but it looks very weak in the desert southwest.

Most likely precipitation is east and downstream of the Colorado River Valley.

Clouds will remain in our sky for the rest of the evening, along with a light breeze.

Wind advisories have been issued for parts of Yuma County for southerly winds of 20-30 MPH and gusts up to 40 MPH.

It can be windy and difficult to drive, so sand and dust can be thrown around, so use extreme caution.

Occasional gusts will be the main weather problem through Tuesday morning.

By tonight the winds will change direction and can blow from the south-southwest with gusts of 20-30 MPH or pick up.

The next few days will bring back sunny, dry weather and cooler days.

Afternoon highs and overnight lows are below normal, with overnight temperatures likely to be below freezing later this week.
