According to James L. Williams III of The Athletic, the Pistons weren't impressed with the pair's offers until the Knicks' offer came along.
I heard that NYK never made an offer to the Pistons and had no intention of trading him to any team.
I also hear that what DET wanted from Bogey is nowhere near what the team gave up.
Ultimately, DET felt that Grimes and his team-friendly contract were better than any available picks.

The Knicks will reportedly add two true scorers to their roster as they seek their first title in more than 50 years. Bogdanovic has been injured for about half of this year, but when healthy he has averaged over 20 points per game and has a very solid 3-point percentage of 41.5. Birks, obviously favorite Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau returns for his second stint with the Knicks after spending two seasons in New York from 2020-2022. He's also a bench scorer with an impressive 3-point percentage, shooting over 40 percent.
Detroit reportedly acquired Grimes as a promising young player who had little room to grow in the Knicks' crowded backcourt. They will also acquire Fournier, who has been requested to be traded from the Knicks multiple times over the past two years, Woj reported.
Fournier, a proven scorer who averaged nearly 20 points per game in multiple seasons, had completely lost his role at the Garden.his minutes Dropped That increased from 29.5 times per game in 2021 to 17 times last year and 13 times this year.
A change of pace might turn things around for the salty vet.
