Nicole Wallace’s Perspective on the Trump-Russia Narrative
In the universe of Nicole Wallace, it appears that President Putin successfully derailed Hillary Clinton’s 2016 campaign, managing to infiltrate the Trump administration and, in doing so, undermine American democracy.
From her viewpoint, figures like John Brennan and James Comey are seen as unwavering truth-tellers. In her narrative, the documents prepared by Christopher Steele are treated as irrefutable evidence.
Yet, in what many would call reality, the notion of Trump-Russia collusion has turned out to be just that—an elaborate hoax.
Fast forward nearly a decade, and one might hope that the liberal community would gradually come to terms with this. Perhaps they’d start engaging with media perspectives beyond just the New York Times and the Washington Post, arriving at a clearer understanding of the events surrounding Trump’s initial term.
While reflecting on this, one could encounter sentiments from those within the mainstream media. For instance, a report from Microsoft and the New York Times drew backlash as some noted how they seemed to self-exonerate after promoting narratives around the Trump-Russia connection for years. Such actions have the potential to erode public trust in media reporting, ultimately leading to a singular focus on Russia’s aggressive actions.
Interestingly, a recent Rasmussen poll revealed persistent beliefs among many Democrats. Although the survey included 1,014 voters, it showed that a large number of liberals remain entrenched in the narratives propagated by outlets like MSNBC, where the alleged political scandal seems entirely fabricated.
The findings showed that 60% of registered Democrats maintain that “the Trump campaign conspired with the Russian government to win the 2016 election,” with an even higher 69% among liberal voters. Strikingly, 56% of younger Americans aged 18 to 29 think it’s plausible that Trump colluded with Russians.
Despite these beliefs, a sliver of rationality emerged, as 57% of those surveyed expressed that intelligence officials involved in any schemes against Trump should face criminal charges. Furthermore, 53% felt that the actions of the intelligence community toward Trump constituted a scandal exceeding that of Watergate.
Nonetheless, it’s amusing—and somewhat astonishing—that nearly 70% of liberals still find the Trump-Russia narrative credible even after all these years.
