Suspect arrested after large meth bust in northern Arizona

Flagstaff, AZ (AZFamily) — One person was arrested after authorities in northern Arizona found more than 40 pounds of methamphetamine during a highway traffic stop.

The Coconino County Sheriff's Office said deputies with the police dog unit stopped a vehicle heading north on Interstate 17 in the Flagstaff area around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Police arrested the driver on a Maricopa County warrant and searched the vehicle, during which they found approximately 41 pounds of methamphetamine.

The driver was booked into the Coconino County Jail on charges of transportation of dangerous drugs for sale and a Maricopa County arrest warrant.

This incident remains under investigation and no other information is available.

The identities of those arrested have not been released.
