Maricopa, Arizona. – The suspect is dead and an officer was shot dead in an incident that unfolded in Maricopa on Thursday afternoon.

What we know:

Filming on February 27th took place near Thursday afternoon. Bowlin Road and John Wayne Parkway Around 2:50pm

Tapes from the crime scene were scattered around Circle K gas stations as investigators said it was where the shooting took place in which the suspect was killed and the responding officers were injured.

The Pinal Regional Special Investigations unit did not specify why the shooting occurred, but said that suspects with “a widespread violent criminal history” were dead. He is said to be a man between 35 and 40 years old.

“The injured officer has been taken to Valley Hospital and is in stable condition,” the unit said.

Officers involved in this case were placed on administrative leave, a standard procedure.

Investigators did not say what led to the shooting.

The Maricopa Police Station says a special investigation in the Pinal area will investigate the shooting.
