Suspect found dead after standoff with police in Maricopa neighborhood

Maricopa, Arizona (3TV/CBS 5) – Maricopa police say the suspect died after an hour-long barricade at a house in the Village neighborhood near Honeycut and SR 347 in Maricopa.

It started when the Maricopa Police Department responded to a noise complaint on McCord Drive. A police spokesman said the suspect tried to fight off responding officers before returning to the house.

The suspect was later found dead from a gunshot wound, but it is unclear whether he was shot by police or self-inflicted.

Nearby Butterfield Elementary School was shut down as a precautionary measure during the ongoing incident. Officials say the school returned to normal operations before 2 p.m.The identity of the suspect has not been released.Arizona family records show police involvement outside Maricopa County in 2022. It was his 25th time to do so, and his 72nd time statewide.
