Suspect identified in arson investigation from earlier this week | Arizona News

TUCSON, Arizona (KVOA) – A man was arrested in connection with an arson investigation that began earlier this week.

Arson detectives identified 31-year-old Edison J. Thomas as the suspect in the case. A search warrant was executed and Mr. Thomas was taken into custody.

Earlier this week, at approximately 12:45 am on June 21, PCSD agents called the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (1743 W. Wetmore Rd) to a building fire.

The fire was successfully extinguished by firefighters before the fire department arrived.

Arson detectives were dispatched to the scene after the fire was determined to be “inherently suspicious.”

Security cameras on the property showed a man approaching the building before the fire. Thomas is the only suspect in the case at this time.

Thomas was incarcerated at the Pima County Adult Detention Center on two counts of arson and aggravated criminal damage.

PCSD said the investigation was still ongoing.
