Suspect stole patrol vehicle before crash on southwest side

TUCSON, Ariz. (13News) – A suspect stole a Pima County Sheriff's Department vehicle and caused a serious crash on the southwest side of the county early Wednesday morning, Jan. 31.

According to PCSD, the accident occurred at South Kinney Road and West Naomi Road.

According to authorities, a deputy and a sergeant were responding to a suspect with a felony warrant for robbery in the Tucson Estates area.

PCSD said the suspect, whose name has not been released, struggled with them, fled and got into their vehicle.

The suspect then drove away, and other officers used spike strips to stop the vehicle. The suspect then crashed into another vehicle.

The suspect was taken to a hospital for treatment and arrested. There were no major injuries, according to PCSD.
