A Lake Havasu man is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder following a shooting on McCulloch Boulevard this week.
19-year-old Arnell L. Bell was found with gunshot wounds when police raided a home on Block 2,500 of McCulloch Boulevard Wednesday morning. Officers attempted to provide life-saving measures upon arrival, but the victim reportedly died on the spot.
22-year-old Havasu resident Angel F. Caldera was taken into custody for questioning in the case, according to a statement Thursday by Lake Havasu city officials. Caldera was eventually charged with second-degree murder and transferred to Lake Havasu City Jail.
Caldera first appeared in court on Thursday and bail was set at $1 million. He was transferred to Kingman’s Mojave County Jail to await arraignment in the case, which could take place later this month.
Caldera has never been convicted of a felony in Arizona, according to Arizona Supreme Court records. Caldera was recently charged with misdemeanors in the city of Lake Havasu, including violating stop signs, driving without insurance, and driving without a valid license, according to records. He was fined for these violations, but records show that the fine may have been in arrears as of this month.
