Suspected Charlie Kirk Shooter Refusing to Work with Authorities, Governor Reports

Details Emerge on Shooting Involving TPUSA Founder Charlie Kirk

The individual charged with the shooting of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk is not cooperating with law enforcement, according to Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who spoke to ABC. The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, was taken into custody early Friday morning after Kirk was allegedly shot at Utah Valley University during a TPUSA event where he discussed controversial political topics, including transgender issues.

During the interview, Governor Cox shared that Robinson is in a romantic relationship with a person who identifies as a transgender woman. Interestingly, Robinson’s partner is reportedly cooperating with the authorities in their investigation.

“Robinson hasn’t confessed to anything. He’s not working with us,” Cox said, referring to discussions he had regarding the situation. “But everyone around him is working together, which is crucial. There were reports that suggest his roommate is indeed his boyfriend, who is transitioning, and this is information that the FBI confirmed yesterday.”

TPUSA, founded by Kirk in June 2012, originally started as an organization for conservative students in high schools and universities. Kirk also hosted “The Charlie Kirk Show,” which transitioned from a podcast to a radio show broadcast on Salem Radio Network.

Governor Cox also mentioned that Robinson was jokingly discussing his status as the shooter with acquaintances online, indicating that they initially did not believe it was actually him. “Those conversations were ongoing. They thought it was a joke until he admitted it,” he noted.

Furthermore, investigators discovered a rifle with ammunition featuring left-wing messages in the woods near where Kirk was killed.
