Swalwell Inquired About the Doxxing of ICE Agents But Diverts the Focus to Himself

Concerns Over Rising Attacks on ICE Agents

During a recent appearance on News Nation, Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell from California commented on the need for civilian security for ICE agents after a rise in threats against them. He noted the serious risks these agents face, especially in sanctuary cities like Los Angeles.

Swalwell highlighted a staggering 690% increase in attacks on federal enforcement agents this year compared to last, as reported by the Department of Homeland Security. He expressed his support for ICE agents, particularly those who choose not to wear masks while on duty. This has raised some eyebrows, as Cuomo challenged Swalwell’s stance, suggesting that it might appear overly aggressive.

Swalwell stated, “I understand the risks—having faced numerous threats myself, I’ve seen firsthand how much security can cost.” He pointed out that many Congress members have had to invest significantly in their safety in recent years.

Democrats often opposed the Trump administration’s stringent immigration policies, especially actions that led to arrests of people during travels funded by taxpayers or confrontations with federal officials.

Last week alone, there were two notable attacks on an ICE facility in Texas. The first resulted in ten arrests, while the second ended tragically with the death of a 27-year-old man after he shot at an officer.

Swalwell added, “We need to enhance law enforcement’s ability to respond to threats against federal agents. With the current landscape, it’s imperative they remain vigilant and secure.” He acknowledged that both sides of the aisle often react strongly to such situations.

He pointed out that ICE personnel have been operating under significant public scrutiny since the beginning, which he believes contributes to community fear as well. “There’s an unsettling impression created when they hide behind masks,” he commented, referring to ongoing tensions around their operations.

In one instance of concern, videos shared by Fox News showed ICE agents without masks in the field. It remains unclear when the mask policy was implemented. A recent law introduced by Senator Scott Wiener aims to prohibit law enforcement from wearing facial coverings while working in public areas, while Homeland Security has stated that agents face mob-like attacks in cities like Los Angeles.
