On April 12, 2023 at approximately 9:53 PM, Lake Havasu City Police Department officers were dispatched to an address within the 2200 block of the Fremont Doctor regarding the shooting. A man was observed firing several shots from a rifle in the front yard of the residence, according to preliminary information received from the caller.
Officers arrived within minutes and observed two male subjects collecting what they believed to be used bullet casings from the front yard where the shooting had taken place. These subjects disobeyed the officers on site and broke into the residence in question. Information collected suggests that other individuals, including children, may have been at the residence during that time.
This information prompted the Lake Havasu City Police Department SWAT and Negotiations Team to act. After successful negotiations, two adult men and three juveniles left the residence. The adult males were identified as Mario Balthazar, 35, of Lake Havasu City, and his 18-year-old Daniel Monreal, of Lake Havasu City.
Detectives from the Lake Havasu City Police Department Criminal Investigation Division responded to investigate the situation. No one was injured during this event. Both Balthazar and Monreal were eventually arrested and charged with disorderly conduct with weapons and tampering with evidence.After a first court appearance, Monreal and Balthazar were held on his $10,000 cash-only bond.
