Swift Trail re-opening delayed a week due to above-average snowpack on Mount Graham

Mount Graham – The upper portion of State Route 366 (Swift Trail), which leads to Lake Riggs and Mount Graham International Observatory, will be closed for an additional week this year due to above-average snowfall in the Pinareño Mountains.

The road normally reopens seasonally on April 15th, but this year it will reopen on Friday, April 21st.

In a social media post, the U.S. Forest Service said, “By postponing the park opening date from April 15, 2023 to April 21, 2023, we can safely clear snow and prepare recreation areas.” rice field.

Mount Graham has over 130 inches of snow this year and still has a good amount of snow left.
