During an appearance on “Hot Ones” on Thursday, Sidney Sweeney revealed some interesting details about filming one of the most memorable scenes for the hit HBO series “Euphoria.”
The actress spoke behind the scenes of a particularly intense vomiting scene that shocked and moved viewers. Sweeney explains that vomiting scenes are typically simulated using a combination of unappetizing but simple materials.
“In a lot of movies, you just mix whatever the craft team makes and mix it with milk and water and drink it,” the famous actress told Shaun Evans.hot ones“And that's the last thing you want to do is just put it in your mouth, hold it, and then spit it out.”
But the “Euphoria” scenes required a more complex approach, Sweeney said. According to the actress, director Sam Levinson wanted a more impactful visual effect for this scene. To accomplish this, the production team used a pump to create a more dramatic and realistic vomiting sequence that Sweeney endures. “He just wanted to spit his vomit all over the place, so he had to get a pump, and he taped a pipe and hid it on my body, and CGI pumped it down my neck. There was a bit in it so I had to put it in my mouth,” the actress explained.
Reflecting on the experience, Sweeney couldn't put into words how uncomfortable it was.
“So during that scene, they stuffed my mouth with vomit and then when I opened my mouth, they started vomiting out of my mouth,” she said. “And it was the most disgusting thing I've ever experienced.”
