“Take Our Border Back” convoy holds rally in Yuma

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – A nationwide motorcade protesting illegal immigration stopped in Yuma Saturday afternoon.

The Reclaim Our Borders convoy gathered around noon at Britten Farms for a rally to express disapproval of the Biden administration's immigration policies.

Saturday's rally is one of several across the country, including in the border areas of San Ysidro, California, and Eagle Pass, Texas.

“What we decided to do is gather all of our allies and come together for two hours here in Yuma and San Ysidro this morning and have a long vigil in Texas to let people know that the First Amendment exists. We will speak out peacefully and legally.”

These protesters hope to send a clear message: “Action needs to be taken at the border.”

“We Americans are just standing up and saying, 'Border Patrol, do your job. Government, do your job,'” said convoy participant Lewis Harms.

The Yuma County Sheriff's Office (YCSO) and Yuma Police Department (YPD) said they are aware the convoy will be making a stop in Yuma.

YCSO said organizers of the convoy group met with local law enforcement to minimize the impact on the community and said the rally would be peaceful.
