WASHINGTON (AP) — Target will recall about 5 million candles due to the risk of lacerations and burns, according to Thursday’s notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recall affects approximately 4.9 million Threshold brand glass jar candles sold in a variety of sizes and scents, including watermint and eucalyptus, apple blossom and breeze, warm cider and cinnamon.
According to the CPSC notice, Target has received 137 reports of threshold candle jars breaking or cracking during use. Six injuries were reported, including lacerations and severe burns.
Thursday’s notice said consumers who own the recalled threshold products should “immediately stop using them.” Candles can be returned to a Target store or mailed in for a full refund.

The recalled Threshold products were sold exclusively in Target stores and the Minneapolis-based retailer’s website from August 2019 to March 2023. Selling prices range from $3 to $20, the CPSC said.
