Yuma, Arizona (3TV/CBS 5) — Police have taken a teenage boy into custody after he was shot in a Yuma high school parking lot Monday morning.
Yuma police officers called in on reports of a shot being fired outside gilaridge high school When they arrived, the 16-year-old suspect had already fled. Two students were injured in the fight but were not shot, police said.
A 16-year-old boy was found off campus and taken into custody. During the investigation, Gila said Ridge and surrounding schools were shut down, but police stressed that this was not a shooting situation. Sergeant Lori Franklin says there were no suspects inside the school.
school officials said in social media posts It will be dismissed late Monday morning at its normal time on Monday afternoon. Yuma police officers were also at the scene helping direct traffic.
