A 14-year-old from Enterprise has won the Alabama Black Belt Adventure Association’s 2025 Road Trip Photo Contest.
Lucas Garrard, a freshman at Enterprise High School, learned about the contest through a local TV station in the Dothan area and decided to enter.
“I noticed two of her teammates heading toward the field,” Garrard said. “It made for a great photo, so I captured it.”
His photo garnered the most online votes, securing first place and a $100 gift card. “I’m really honored to have won,” he remarked.
Other notable winners are:
– 2nd place: Shelby Farberyoke from Selma, who submitted a picture of her son Trip at Prairie Creek Campground in Lowndes County, earning a $50 gift card.
– 3rd place: Barbara Sims, who photographed her 8-year-old grandson, Jesse Holley, blowing bubbles in Conecuh County, and received an Albuba gift basket.
According to Albbaa director Pam Swanner, the contest continues to highlight unique experiences in the Black Belt region.
“We appreciate everyone who submitted photos and those who participated in voting for this year’s contest,” Swanner noted. “It’s particularly rewarding to see a young photographer win by showcasing family outings to watch his sister play softball.”
The association also organizes an annual Best Fish Photo Contest, which will go until September 30. Entries should feature various fish species caught in the Black Belt in 2025, with winners determined by online votes on the association’s website.
The Black Belt region encompasses 23 Alabama counties, including Barbour, Dallas, Hale, Lowndes, Montgomery, Perry, Pike, Sumter, and Wilcox.
