Teenager Reportedly Stabs Another Teen During Homecoming Dance, According to Authorities

Teen Stabbing at Homecoming Dance in Utah

A 17-year-old was allegedly stabbed during a homecoming dance at Spanish Fork High School on Saturday evening.

Spanish Fork police received reports of a fight in the parking lot of Maple Mountain High School around 9:21 PM. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with a stab wound in his leg.

Paramedics transported the injured teen to a hospital, where his injuries were reported as non-life-threatening. Meanwhile, the suspect allegedly fled the scene but was apprehended by police shortly after.

The 16-year-old suspect has been booked at Slate Canyon Detention Center and faces aggravated assault charges, according to a press release.

Law enforcement indicated that several boys were involved in the altercation, but the motive behind the fight has not been disclosed.

Nebo School District issued a statement emphasizing the priority of student safety and expressing concern for those affected by the incident. “We’re thankful that the injured student has since been released from the hospital,” the district noted. They also highlighted the availability of counseling resources for students needing support after such a distressing event.

The investigation into the stabbing is ongoing, with additional details about the incident and the involved students yet to be released.

This incident disrupted what was meant to be a celebratory night for students at Utah County Schools. Maple Mountain High School serves the community of Spanish Fork, a city of roughly 42,000 people situated about 50 miles south of Salt Lake City.
