PHOENIX — An inmate at Yavapai County's Camp Verde Correctional Facility was arrested Monday, more than a week after his escape.
According to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, Trevor Trammell, 32, was taken back into custody last Thursday after failing to return to jail after a work release.
He was re-detained last Thursday after failing to return to jail following his work release, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities immediately attempted to track him down, searching his known addresses and speaking to people who knew him.
One of Trammell's acquaintances said he had left the area with his girlfriend and was planning to go to Michigan. YCSO said.
Authorities announced they had issued a nationwide arrest warrant for him on May 3 before he was returned to prison again.
How did Arizona authorities catch an escaped inmate after temporary work release?
Authorities said the U.S. Marshals Service found Trammell hiding out in Prescott.
Deputies tracked him to a truck in which he was a passenger, but the vehicle fled despite an attempted traffic stop.
The Prescott Police Department worked with YCSO to ambush him, but the truck sped past them.
“The driver and Trammell abandoned the truck and fled on foot,” YCSO said in a release Monday.
Detectives, along with deputies, pursued the suspect on foot and ultimately arrested the driver.
Prescott police later found Trammell hiding in a yard, according to YCSO.
Authorities did not disclose the crime that landed Trammell in prison in the first place.
