Ten Months and One Unsuccessful Presidential Run Later: Kasie Hunt and Rahm Emanuel Criticize Kamala Harris

Kamala Harris Discusses Her Memoir and Political Journey

During an appearance on “The Scenery,” former Vice President Kamala Harris was interviewed by CNN anchor Kasie Hunt and former Obama advisor Rahm Emanuel. Harris used this opportunity to promote her memoir, “107 Days.”

In a segment called “Kasie Hunt Arena,” Hunt pointedly mentioned that Harris had “failed” after her ten-month presidential campaign. Emanuel added that he felt he missed key opportunities to define his own political identity.

Hunt noted the context of Harris’s comments about a past incident, mentioning that the former Vice President described herself as loyal to President Biden. “After ten months and one failed presidential campaign, Harris is now on a book tour and expressed her thoughts about that notable moment,” Hunt explained.

Harris stated, “That day and my interviews were very symbolic of my concerns. I was often unhappy as a loyal person wanting to convey that there was a distinction between myself and President Biden.” She conveyed a sense of frustration regarding loyalty and acknowledgment.

Emanuel reflected on the challenges Harris faced, saying, “It wasn’t a trick question; it was simply a question that went unanswered. There are many contentious areas, but this touches on both loyalty and character.” He suggested a disconnect in recognizing the demand for change, noting an irony in the current political climate, where Biden Harris has seen a dip in approval ratings.

In her memoir, Harris revealed feelings of being overlooked by the Biden administration, stating that her achievements were not adequately highlighted, and she was not shielded from “false attacks.” Interestingly, she mentioned that she had initially preferred Pete Buttigieg as her running mate but had hesitations due to his sexual orientation.

CNN’s chief data analyst, Harry Enten, highlighted on Monday that Harris’s popularity among Democrats has waned since the 2024 election, with her net favorability dropping from -5 to -13 points across the nation. Additionally, independent voters now view her negatively by 37 points, which diminishes her prospects for a political resurgence.
