Tenette, Honani Named 4A Boys And Girls Grand Canyon Region Basketball Players Of The Year – Great Circle Media of Arizona

Prescott's Urijah Tenet and Flagstaff's Morning Rain Honani were named the 4A Grand Canyon Region boys and girls basketball players of the year. Tenet averaged 32 points and 5.5 rebounds per game and led the Badgers to the regional title. They open the 4A state playoffs Wednesday night at home against AZ College Prep. Honani led the Eagles with just over 13 points per game this season, and Flagstaff once again finished the district season undefeated. The Eagles open the 4A state playoffs Thursday at home against Prescott. Tenet also won the region's Offensive Player of the Year award and his coach, Travis Stedman, was named the region's Coach of the Year. Coconino's Michael Chukwuziga was named the region's Defensive Player of the Year. Tenet and Chukwujiga's top teams in the area include Prescott's Tenet teammate Zane Gual, Flagstaff's Jake Centerner and Bradshaw Mountain's Mason Hunt. On the girls team, Prescott's Adi Prisciandaro was named the region's Offensive Player of the Year, while Prescott's Vera Abt and Mingus' Savannah Tobias were named the region's Co-Defensive Player of the Year. The region's Coach of the Year is Flagstaff's Tyrone Johnson. Others on the first team include Jazmin Dougi of Flagstaff and Aviana Scharfenberger of Coconino.
