Texas Summit Fire 70% percent contained

The Fire in Summit, Texas, is 70% contained and limited to 455 acres as of Friday morning, according to information from the Arizona Forest Fire Management Service.

The fire was contained by 50% and has grown to 455 acres, according to Tiffany Davila of the Arizona Forestry Department.

Route 10 opened. There was no damage to structures.

The fires are 30% contained and 455 acres are on fire, according to the Forest Fire Management Service.

They say the crew has stopped moving forward, but will work tonight and in the morning to contain the fire, control the hotspot, and mop up.

Forest and Fire Management, Land Management, and local fire departments work together to control fires.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said all lanes of Interstate 10 have reopened.

Arizona Department of Public Safety responded to an eastbound I-10 collision between East Dragoon Road and the Texas Canyon Rest Stop at 1:22 p.m.

Two vehicles collided, killing one person and injuring three, while the second vehicle was unharmed.

The first car veered off the roadway, hit rocks, went down an embankment, and burned to the ground, according to the DPS.

Investigation is ongoing.

The Arizona Forestry and Fire Department responds to wildfires near Benson.

The Texas Summit Fire started at around 1:45 PM on Wednesday, March 29th.

It was caused by a crash.

The fire spread to 100 acres.

It burns grass and is fueled by the local winds.

120 personnel are working to put out the fire.

The left lane of eastbound I-10 opens at milepost 320 near Dragon Road.

No date has been set for when the highway will reopen.

Texas Canyon Rest Stop is temporarily closed.
