Thania Lennos Vlahos : coshocton beacon today

Thania Lennos Vlahos, 83, of Coshokton, died Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born March 21, 1939 in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the daughter of John G. and Kathryn L. (Glaros) Renos. On June 4, 1961, she married Nicholas Vlahos. The couple had one son, Athan Vlahos, who survived her mother.

Mrs. Vlahos graduated from Boardman High School in Boardman, Ohio in 1957 and received a BA in Education from Muskingham College in 1961. She then received her Master of Science degree in Education from St. Joseph College in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Mrs. Vlahos taught first grade at the old Lincoln School from 1961 to 1967. She then returned to Coshocton City Schools as a special education teacher in 1975. She taught special education students in all Coshocton City schools until she retired in 2006. In 2007 she continued working as a special education tutor.

She was a member of the Junior Women’s Club, the Trilosis Club, the Coshocton Retired Teachers’ Organization, and was a member of various Bridge Clubs throughout her life. Thania loved reading, playing bridge and entertaining. She was particularly known for her proficiency in Greek cuisine such as her pastissos, vine leaves and spinach pies.

In addition to her son, she was survived by her sister Antonia K. (Toni) Johnson and brother-in-law Robert T. Timmons Sr. Lisa K. (Brian) Macklin, niece and daughter of God, of Patascara, Ohio. Great-niece, Erin Macklin. Many cousins ​​and special friends, Andrea Berry, Debbie Bible, Carol Broadwater, Debbie Daugherty, Katie Barrick, Paula During.

Friends may call Miller Funeral Home at 639 Main Street in Coshocton, Ohio on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is hosted by St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in Massillon, Ohio.

Burial will take place at Coshocton County Memorial Gardens.
