Thatcher’s Jenny Howard appointed to ADOT Board

Thatcher — Gila Valley finally has a say when it comes to road improvements and repairs.

Former Gov. Doug Ducey appointed Thatcher City Council member Jenny Howard as his precinct in one of his last actions before resigning. His 4th delegate to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Howard’s districts include Graham, Gila, and Pinal counties.

Her appointment is pending state Senate approval, but Jon Brodsky, ADOT’s director of communications and public engagement, said Howard could serve for up to a year until approval requirements are met.

She will attend the first board meeting in Sierra Vista on January 20th.

Graham County has only two projects in ADOT’s five-year capital improvement plan, both due in 2023. Graham has been allocated $2 million to complete bridge repairs at Mile Post 298 on U.S. Highway 70, and he has been allocated $10.9 million to repair nine miles of roads in the state. Route 266.

There are currently no projects scheduled for 2024-27.
