‘That’s Absurd’: Karoline Leavitt Lights Into ‘Low-Level Judges’ Blocking Bureaucrat Firings

White House press chief Karoline Leavitt on Friday criticized the court’s ruling that blocked President Donald Trump from denying probation workers from multiple federal agencies.

Judge William Alsap of the Northern District of California ordered the Trump administration on Thursday to rehire thousands of workers fired on probation. Leavitt said Allsup is “trying to take away” the power to “take” the president’s power. “This injunction is unconstitutional,” Leavitt told reporters in response to questions. “And that’s for those who understand the law fundamentally. You can’t have a low-level district court judge who will file an injunction to take away the US president’s enforcement agency. That’s totally ridiculous.”

Since President Donald Trump Established Government Efficiency (DOGE), federal employees have been fired from multiple agencies, including a reduction of approximately 50% in the Department of Education’s workforce. Approximately 95% of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) workforce end.

“And as an enforcer of the enforcement department, the president has the ability to hire or fire,” Leavitt said. “And we have these low-level judges trying to block this president’s agenda.”

“It’s very clear. Just as I quoted, when I saw it this morning, I was applauded by this statistic. In the month of February, there were 15 injunctions on this administration and our agenda,” added Leavitt. “With 14 injunctions under the Biden administration over three years, it’s very clear that there are judicial activists across the judiciary unit trying to block this president’s executive body.”

Doge’s actions to reduce federal government size and reduce government fraud and waste have been challenged in courts with mixed consequences. ALSUP blocked notes sent to federal agencies and directed thousands of probation workers to be denied before ordering rehiring those fired, but other courts allowed DOGE to carry out its activities.
