The City of Yuma hosts second annual Career Fair

The city hosted a fair for those seeking career opportunities in the city

Yuma, Ariz. (Kyma, Kecy) – Yuma City held its annual career fair at the Yuma Civic Center Wednesday morning.

Several departments in the city have set up booths to talk to and network with citizens to see which jobs are best for.

Yuma County had an unemployment rate of just under 12% in December 2024, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Meanwhile, in 2023 it was 13%.

Yuma’s hometown John Gutierrez shares why he attended the event.

“I came out today to come in, come out here and see which sectors are hiring and what opportunities are available,” Gutierrez said.

The city explains how the event can help people alert them of open positions.

“In many cases, to get information to people, people don’t understand the different kinds of locations we have throughout the city. They feel it’s a very limited amount and we really have diversity because of the several sectors we have.”

Gutierrez explains why they prefer these at these events rather than simply applying online.

“Many of the websites that are hard to navigate jobs don’t get a lot of feedback, and here you can actually communicate face to face.
