The former producer of “Young Turks,” who is transgender, announced Tuesday that he was leaving the show due to allegations that the host was transphobic.
Former Benny Carolo producer For the network, he has released a video on his Youtube channel explaining his decision to part ways with the company. Karolo, a transgender who identifies as a woman, said Young Turks hosts Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uyghur had become unbearably transphobic in recent months.
Carolo said the two had turned into a “right-wing rivalry”. (Related article: ‘The Young Turks’ star Ana Casparian admits to doing the same thing with Kyle Rittenhouse)
Carolo criticized Casparian’s tweet in April accusing him of using the term “birth-bearer” to refer to a biological woman. He also said he had conversations with Uyghurs, who dismissed concerns that the show was heading in a transphobic direction and accused them of “living in a bubble”.
He also frustrated that organizers were concerned about biological men participating in women’s sports.
“I think Ana Kasparian is really, personally transphobic,” Carolo said.
Carolo also took issue with Kasprian’s defense of journalist Jesse Singal and his defense of his show “Blocked and Reported.” Singhal, a journalist who reports on the risks of gender transition, has long been considered “transphobic” by many trans activists.
“When you put all this together, it seems like Ana Kasparian is totally caught up in a transgender conspiracy theory,” Carolo said.
Kasparian reacted to Carolo’s decision about Young Turks, even accidentally misgendering her in the process. Casparian quickly straightened him out and called Carolo by his preferred pronouns.
