Congressman Josh Bresheen: “There is an invasion on our southern border…no state is safe from its effects.”
WASHINGTON, DC (Feb. 28) – Rep. Josh Brescene participated in the first full committee hearing of the House Homeland Security Committee.
The hearings discussed the far-reaching and debilitating effects of President Biden’s border crisis on communities across the United States.
Witnesses included Rebecca Kiessling (civilian, Rochester Hills, Michigan), The Honorable Mark Lamb (Sheriff, Pinal County, Arizona), Robert J. Trenchell, DO, MPH (President and Chief Executive Officer, Yuma Regional Medical Center, Yuma, Yuma, Arizona). ), David J. Bier, Associate Director for Immigration Studies, CATO Institute.
“As demonstrated today, drug cartels have invaded our southern border and no country is safe from its effects. Oklahoma is no exception. There were ingestion deaths: in 2018, the figure was just 39. This is a staggering 667% increase in deaths from fentanyl, many of them crossing borders in the South. It could be due to the fentanyl that runs in,” said Congressman Josh Brescene.
The hearings come after House Homeland Security Republicans attended a border boot camp in El Paso, Texas last week. Click here for more information.
