Former Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton addressed his viral game video on his YouTube channel Friday and apologized to everyone involved.

“My heart goes out to everyone who played a role and supported me from start to finish, but we have to be better, and that starts with me,” Newton said. said.

Newton accepted responsibility for his role in the brawl and revealed that the assailant was a coach within his C1N football camp organization.

“It just started with words and should have ended with words, and that's fine…I'm disappointed in myself for allowing it to escalate to what it is. So I'm going to respond to that. I commend Newton for this apology. I don't think the Newton of old was mature enough to take on responsibilities in this way, but obviously going out of the league and into coaching has helped him grow as a person. Good for him.
