‘They Have A Real Problem’: Newt Gingrich Reveals The One Running Mate Pick That Could Derail Kamala’s Campaign

Former Republican Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich revealed Thursday night that Democratic Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro is the only vice presidential candidate who could disrupt Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign.

Gingrich appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” to discuss how Harris could secure enough delegates to become a leading candidate to become the new Democratic presidential nominee after President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid on Sunday. During the interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Gingrich discussed the candidates who have emerged as potential running mates for Harris and pointed out the problems with choosing Shapiro. “Well, they've got a big problem. And I think this is why Harris won't end up picking Governor Shapiro of Pennsylvania, by the way,” Gingrich said. “If you go to the convention with a Jewish governor as your running mate, it's going to create tensions and stormy scenes in places like Michigan. It's going to be a Union Station type situation. They're really in trouble.”

“The problem is they are seeing more and more anti-Semitism within their party and more and more of their members supporting terrorism. Their members are becoming hostile not only to Israel but to the United States,” Gingrich said.

Nearly half of the Democratic lawmakers in Israel skipped Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to Congress during his state visit on Wednesday, but one Democrat, Rep. Rashida D. Rashida, of Michigan, protested during Netanyahu's speech, holding up a sign that read “war criminals.”

“I think this is a fundamental division within their party, and it will be interesting to see how they try to write a platform compared to what the Republicans were able to do in Milwaukee,” Gingrich continued, “because how are they going to combine the radical left with the remnants of the old pro-Israel camp? How are they going to get that into the platform? They're going to have a very hard time.”

Outside the capital, chaos ensued, with pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel protesters burning an American flag and replacing it with a Palestinian one. After the protests, Harris said: release In a statement on Twitter (formerly known as X), he condemned the “brutal terrorist organization Hamas” and “all individuals” involved in burning the American flag.

“I condemn the burning of the American flag. That flag is a symbol of our highest ideals as a nation and represents the promise of America. It should never be desecrated in such a way,” Harris wrote. “While I support the right to peacefully protest, I want to be clear: anti-Semitism, hatred and violence of any kind have no place in our country.”

Biden won his party's primary but faced significant backlash, with more than 100,000 Michigan voters refraining from voting for him because of his administration's support for Israel following the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attacks.

In addition to Shapiro, other names being reportedly floated as potential running mate include Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly and Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear. according to To ABC News.
