Michael Kay is getting old and grumpy, but I'm all for it!
The New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays face off on Monday, with the latter's outfielder Jose Siri He was criticized during a victory celebration while the team stared down the ball in defeat: After hitting his 14th home run of the season, Siri slowly circled the bases and mocked the Yankees fans with hand gestures to indicate they were cheering.
Siri's celebration, which came in the fifth inning with Tampa Bay trailing 4-0, infuriated the Pinstripes dugout, including superstar captain Aaron Judge, who normally doesn't get too emotional in these situations. (RELATED: Cubs' Craig Counsell furious at ESPN reporter's “bad take”)
Another person who was not happy with Siri's celebration was YES Network announcer Michael Kay, who slammed her for dancing around after hitting a home run while the team was still losing by a significant margin. To make the situation even worse, it was Siri's 29th birthday. What a gift!
“We're losing! We celebrate when we're winning,” Kay said. “They're acting like it's Mardi Gras in the dugout. We're losing the game!”
