According to CBS News, the shootout occurred after a memorial service held Friday at the Salvation Army Cross Generations Worship and Community Center in Blue Island, Illinois.
The memorial service was in memory of Princess Jamiyah Bell, 19, who was shot and killed in Chicago on June 3rd. according to Bell told CBS News he was an unexpected victim of the shooting, which also killed an 18-year-old acquaintance.
According to the media, the incident began around 3:30 p.m. when a vehicle approached the community center and several gunmen opened fire on the building where Bell's funeral was being held.

“There are a lot of young people out there who are angry because my granddaughter was loved, and then of course some of her friends want revenge,” Allison added, according to CBS News. “So I guess this is all about retaliation.”
Four people were injured in the attack, according to the outlet. Authorities transported two of the victims to local hospitals with minor injuries, while a third was seriously injured. A fourth victim, who was also injured, reportedly transported himself to Roseland Community Hospital. Authorities are still verifying the exact circumstances of their involvement.
Police continued investigating into the night and detained a man who may have been involved in the shooting, CBS News reported, though details of the charges and the full extent of the incident remain unclear.
