Massachusetts has a population of just under 7 million. I grew up in Lynn, population about 100,000, he is one of the cities on the North Shore of Boston. In addition to the population density, the surrounding cities are also mostly dense.
The reason I bring this up is because when I was toying with the idea of moving to Pittsfield, even the mention of moving to a “smaller” location immediately backfired.
How can you even think of enjoying an uncrowded area? You can’t get to Boonie from a super-populated city! Yes you can. It’s actually pretty fun. Okay, I know “fun” is subjective, but yes, I love it here.
At one point I was thinking of going more rural like Washington, Massachusetts! There are only about 550 people living there. What about New Ashford? Only 285 people there!

But what about small towns with less than 100 people? Yeah, here in Massachusetts.

Gosnold!
Gosnold is a town in the Elizabeth Islands in Dukes County, Massachusetts, United States. At the 2010 Census, the town had a population of 75, making it the least populated town in Massachusetts. Most of the residents live in the village of Cuttyhank, but most of the town’s land is owned by the Forbes family.
