Republican Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy appeared on Newsmax on Wednesday and said he was worried that the increasingly extreme positions of some Democrats could simultaneously strengthen Republicans, but could still hurt the country.
In a speech at a Human Rights Campaign event Monday evening, Democrat Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett took the podium to express her criticism of the state’s Republican leaders, using Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, wheelchair and “Governor Hot Wheels,” describing him as “Hot Assads.” When featured in “The Record with Greta Van Susterlen,” Kennedy said that despite political interests he was concerned about the country’s happiness.
“They were beaten in the election, and I thought they would hit the rock bottom, but obviously there’s a basement in the rock bottom,” Kennedy said. “This is all great for the Republicans, but all this crazy, but it’s bad for America. And I hope they stop it. But from a political standpoint, when he’s kicking your ass, you won’t interfere with the enemy.”
Kennedy also commented on Crockett’s antics, and he refrained from valuing his political opponents.
clock:
“Let me say I don’t hate anyone. When I say my prayers, I ask God, don’t let me hate you. It’s sometimes difficult in Washington. “I don’t know her. She’s entitled to her opinion, but I have the entitled to mine.”
Kennedy suggested that the handoff approach might be the most effective. (Related: “It’s Burche*T!”: Jasmine Crockett screams at GOP to cut NPR, PBS funds)
“As far as I’m concerned, I’ll let lawmakers relax and keep talking to her. She’s making our point for us. She’s a member of the Rune Wings of the Democrats. Not all Democrats do, but the Rune Wings are in control,” Kennedy added.
Crockett’s remarks about the Republican governor are one of several comments she made against President Donald Trump’s Republicans and allies. Crockett acknowledged that her priorities were against Trump rather than passing the law.
Republican Texas Rep. Randy Weber announced he intends to propose a resolution to denounce Crockett. Whether a resolution is considered a privilege remains uncertain, potentially requiring House GOP leadership to vote for condemnation.
