Three agencies in Yuma were involved in GTA crimes, driver dead after car chase | Yuma







Yuma — Three agencies in Yuma are involved in GTA crimes. The incident happened around 8:00 am on March 8th. The YCSO has received reports of stolen water tankers and guns around Araby Road and County 9 ½ Street.

About an hour later, Yuma police received a report of an attempted carjacking. A Hispanic man threatened the 45-year-old woman with a gun and attempted to rob her car, police said. The man had trouble starting the car, so he returned to the water truck. Police reported no injuries.

An hour later, the same man hijacked a car in the Arizona Western College parking lot. The man threatened a 51-year-old woman with a gun, took her purple Acura, left a water tanker behind, and fled the scene.No injuries were reported.

Forty minutes later, the stolen AWC purple Acura was found on 16th Street and Pacific Avenue. The car he went missing near 24th Street and Kennedy Lane.

About five hours later, the stolen purple Acura was being chased by Somerton police heading north on Avenue 3E. By then, it had become the pursuit of multiple agencies.

The car chase took the I8 east to Foothills Boulevard, then back west on North Frontage Road, then south on Avenue 8E, then east on South Frontage Road, causing accidents at Fortuna and South Frontage . The Man then took Foothills Boulevard, North He took Frontage He Road west, Fortuna He Road north, Highway He took Highway 95 west.

The man left the car at 16th Street and Peyto Drive and walked north. The man then saw a DPS car, shot it, and continued on foot.

A man carjacked another car, a small silver car, in the 2200 block of the East 15th Ward. He threatened a woman in her 70s with a gun to get the car back. According to reports, the man fired a gun near the victim woman and her passenger twice. There were no reported injuries.

The car chase continued through the Yuma Palms Regional Center Mall, from Guis Parkway to Avenue B, and then south. The chase continued to County 15th Street and Avenue 3E, where the man was hit by a semi-truck at an intersection.The man, a 44-year-old Hispanic man, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other reported injuries.

The man was later identified as Alfredo Panduro Zendejas, 44, of Yuma. Police say Alfredo Panduro Zendejas has an extensive violent criminal record, including serving time in prison.

Agencies involved and/or assisting in tracking the vehicle were YPD, YCSO, Somerton PD, Department of Public Safety, Homeland Security Investigations, Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Corps, U.S. Border Protection, and U.S. Sheriffs .
