According to the New York Post, a 58-year-old woman was attacked by a gunman wielding a baseball bat while walking in downtown Manhattan on Tuesday.
As seen on security camera footage, two masked assailants armed with baseball bats attacked the 58-year-old woman in broad daylight. The attack happened at around 2pm as the victim was walking away, engrossed in her mobile phone. according to The New York Post reported that the video shows the first suspect running up from behind and striking the woman in the back of the head.

As she stumbled, leaning against the wall of a nearby store, the second assailant began hitting her repeatedly with a black baseball bat, while an accomplice tried to take her purse, the outlet reported. Despite their violent attempts, the assailants stole the woman's belongings and fled the scene. The victim was later taken to New York Downtown Hospital where she was treated for bruising to her left leg and swelling to the back of her head. Authorities are currently searching for the suspects, who they describe as strangers to the victim, according to the New York Post. No arrests have been made at the time of writing. Police are urging anyone with information about the attackers or the incident to assist in the ongoing investigation.
