Thunderstorms move south of Casa Grande; Tornado warning expires

Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) — Something unusual happened Monday afternoon when a tornado warning was issued for parts of Arizona’s Pima and Pinal counties.Tornado warning radar indicated the thunderstorm could cause a tornado, but it was never spotted. The warning expired around 4:30 p.m.

An isolated storm is expected to move east of the Valley, but the Phoenix area may not see thunderstorms tonight. Arizona Family News Chopper is near Casa Grande and Eloy with dark looming overhead I found clouds.

Meanwhile, in northern Arizona, residents of Pinetop Lakeside have been hit by strong storms and hail. The US National Weather Service is urging people not to drive on flooded roads after heavy rains in Arizona. Always remember, turn around and don’t drown!

High winds and heavy rain hit the East Valleyers Sunday night. After the storm passed, Queen He partially flooded the creek. More than 15,000 people lost power on the Phoenix subway. Sky Harbor Airport also reported 85 mph gusts, and the storm delayed 70 flights and diverted 4.
