Minnesota Democratic Gov. Tim Walz appeared to ignore shouted questions Wednesday about allegations that he lied about his service in the National Guard and walked to a nearby car.
Waltz's 2005 retirement from the Minnesota National Guard after a 24-year career was called into question in a Facebook post that resurfaced in 2018. post “The unidentified individual questioned Waltz twice about the 'stolen heroics,'” according to retired Army Command Sergeant Major Thomas Berens, who replaced Waltz as the artillery battalion's top non-commissioned officer after the Minnesota governor's retirement. As Waltz hurriedly walked to his SUV after greeting people at the airport, the unidentified individual questioned him twice about the 'stolen heroics.' “Governor, Vance has accused you of defamation. What do you think?” the man shouted. “Governor!”
“Governor, Vance has accused you of defamation. What do you think?” the person repeated about 30 seconds later, as Walz and Harris walked toward the motorcade.

Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio was among those accusing Walz of having his reputation “stolen,” highlighting comments Walz made in the video. “Tim Walz, when did you ever go to war?” Vance asked at a campaign rally in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on Wednesday. “You abandoned your unit right before going to Iraq, you never spent a day in a combat zone, and what weapons did you bring to that war? Vice President Kamala Harris introduced Walz, a former teacher, as her running mate at a rally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday. Walz, as the official candidate for governor, Website Waltz reportedly retired as a master sergeant, but Behrens said in a letter attached to the 2018 Facebook post that Waltz's sudden retirement had resulted in him being demoted to the rank of sergeant.
The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
