As Birmingham-Southern College begins the inevitable process of closing its doors by May 31, the school is offering alumni and fans one last chance to purchase the final edition BSC license plate. According to Birmingham-Southern College, the plates will be available for purchase until the end of the month.

“With the purchase of a special BSC license plate, the college will receive $48.75 in charitable donations, sharing your pride in BSC and contributing to the education of our talented students,” an announcement on the school's website reads.

BSC plates cost $50 in addition to the regular registration fee of $24.25.

Only 1,202 Alabamians purchased BSC license plates for 2023. The school currently has fewer than 1,000 students enrolled.

If the university closes, more than 200 people could be laid off without severance pay.

License plates can be purchased at your local license plate office in your county. Find your county's Department of Motor Vehicles. Once your license plates are manufactured, they will be shipped directly to you, usually in about 6 weeks.

Pre-numbered plates are available immediately upon purchase.
