Titomic Establishes Global Headquarters in Huntsville
Titomic has officially opened its new facility in Huntsville and designated the city as its global headquarters.
The company specializes in advanced metal additive manufacturing systems and aims to be closer to its U.S. clients in the aerospace, defense, and industrial sectors.
CEO Jim Simpson noted, “Our customers include aerospace and defense suppliers such as Boeing and Airbus. Setting up facilities in the U.S. will enhance our capacity to collaborate directly with clients and meet industrial and operational needs.”
He also mentioned that Huntsville’s selection highlights the region’s strategic role in U.S. manufacturing and defense.
Titomic’s kinetic Fusion technology, which is patented, employs high-pressure gas to propel metal powders at supersonic speeds, enabling them to bond without melting. This innovative process can create and recover structural components using materials that conventional methods find challenging or inefficient.
Notably, this process is not reliant on heat, reducing the risk of thermal distortion and enabling the bonding of different metals.
The facility in Huntsville is designed to produce or repair metal parts that are up to 10 feet long, achieving deposition rates greater than 13 pounds per hour. The objective here is to bolster domestic production, lessen dependence on imported components, and align with initiatives aimed at strengthening supply chains in essential industries.
Located along Alabama 20/I-565, it sits near the former Pratt & Whitney building, adjacent to Cowin Equipment and the Redstone Harley-Davidson highway.
This site will support production, demonstration, and R&D functions, complementing the company’s operations in Australia and the Netherlands.
