Country music legend Toby Keith passed away on Monday at the age of 62, a statement on his official Instagram account revealed.
“Toby Keith passed away peacefully last night, February 5th, surrounded by his family,” the statement read. “He fought with grace and courage.”
The country music star had been battling stomach cancer since 2022, but the cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
The statement asks fans to “respect the family's privacy at this time.”
Keith continued to record and perform during his illness. He played three nights of shows in Las Vegas in December, during which he performed 32 No. 1 hits and 42 Top 10 hits, according to . NBC News.
