The 2-year-old is safe after walking about seven miles into the territory of the Mountain Lion in northwestern Arizona, cuddles with a very good dog who finds a boy wandering through the sturdy wilderness.
His new furry hero led him to safety in the morning.
According to the Yabapai County Sheriff’s Office, 2-year-old Borden Allen was reported missing after wandering away from her home near Seligman on Monday afternoon.
The little boy was last seen wearing only a tank top, pajama pants and van sneakers.
Now enter the hero of this story: Buford, a 160-pound half-pyrenees and a working ranch dog in the semi-Anatolia.
After a 16-hour multi-agency search with more than 40 people looking for toddlers, rancher Scotty Danton found himself walking with Buford early Tuesday morning.
“My dog sees him walking down the fence with his cute little blonde two-year-old,” Danton told Fox Weather.
Danton and his wife, Dawn, own and operates Danton Ranch, Kingman’s 25,000-cat ranch.
Dawn told Scotty that morning about the missing boy.
Both were worried as it was reported he had missed the previous afternoon.
“I knew exactly who it was,” Scotty Dunton said. “I was really worried. I mean it’s as cold as nights and things. I was really thinking the worst.”
Dunton Ranch was about 7 miles from where Borden was last seen.
He was weeped and upset when he was found, but Danton comforted him and took him inside to call the sheriff’s office.
After Borden gets tired of a bowl of water and has had a snack with string cheese and bananas, Danton says the little guy is getting better.
“The toughest 2 year old” avoids dangerous wildlife with the help of Buford
Borden’s story is surprising, but his father and grandfather Danton say there’s nothing to surprise him about the two-year-old.
“I said, ‘You’re the toughest two-year-old I’ve ever met,'” Danton said he told The The.
Danton was able to find a print of his little shoes, just like he walked with the dog.
“Buford has a way of getting him home every day, and it gets washed. His little truck was with him,” Danton said. “So, yeah, he brought him here.”
Overnight temperatures last week went into his 20s near Kingman, but recently warmed to his 40s when Borden spent the night in the wild.
According to Dunton, the boy said he had curled up under the tree with Buford.
In addition to his seven-mile trekking and cold, the toddler also avoided wildlife predators.

“We have lions, we have coyotes, we have some bears that came a few weeks ago,” Danton said. “There are all sorts of dangers here for that child. So if the dog was with him, the dog would die, not hurt the child.”
The sheriff’s office said searching for a helicopter for toddlers searching for helicopters for toddlers found terrain that the boy walked.
Dunton said Buford will help protect the cows of Dunton Ranch from the Coyotes.
He sleeps all day, then goes out at night and goes out to work. That’s why the dog was in the right place at the right time to find the missing boy.
“I don’t know how long the dog was with him. I mean, it was seven miles, so he definitely spent a lot on his own,” Danton said.
Borden asked Danton to ride with him when lawmakers brought him back to his parents.
Danton said the toddler’s parents said he was back to his normal self after an incredible night.
As for Buford, he got his deserved ribeye steak for dinner Tuesday night.
