Tom Homan Holds Nothing Back — Here Are Five Times He Criticized Democrats as Border Czar

Tom Homan Returns as President Trump’s Border Chief

Since taking on the role as President Donald Trump’s border chief, Tom Homan has wasted no time reigniting the administration’s immigration enforcement policies, directly challenging Democrats and mainstream media.

Appointed shortly after the 2024 general election, Homan is now responsible for overseeing US border activities. Trump remarked that Homan is “better at police and control” than the previous acting director of the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Since the administration officially began on January 20, Homan has quickly addressed those attempting to obstruct the administration’s commitment to cracking down on illegal immigration and executing mass expulsions.

Homan’s Response to Haitian Immigrants

Following Trump’s inauguration, multiple executive orders were signed to reverse former President Joe Biden’s policies, allowing ICE agents to arrest various criminals, including serious offenders like rapists and murderers.

A video aired by Fox News captured Haitian immigrants praising Biden and former President Barack Obama while asserting they would not “return to Haiti.” One immigrant expressed his determination, saying, “I’m not going back to Haiti. F*ck Trump! Do you feel me?”

Just three days after the new administration started, Homan appeared on the Fox News show, where he was asked if he believed the immigrant would not be deported. Homan stated, “He’s going back to Haiti, and I can tell him that.”

Homan added, “Look, I said it for four years on this network. Joe Biden intentionally opened these borders. It wasn’t mismanagement; he knew what he was doing. He kept his promises while running for president, and at least you have to give him credit for that. They opened this border.”

Confrontation with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

In February, New York State Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez initiated a series of virtual events titled “Know Your Rights with ICE,” offering advice to illegal immigrants on how to manage ICE encounters. Ocasio-Cortez used her government platform to suggest tactics for evading federal officials.

During an appearance on Newsmax, Homan criticized Ocasio-Cortez, referring to her as “the stupidest lawmaker.” He expressed frustration over her lack of support for enforcing laws that Congress had established. Homan indicated that he believed her livestream contravened federal law.

As Democrats aim to bolster opposition against the administration’s enforcement initiatives, Ocasio-Cortez remains a focal point in the conversation about immigration policy.

Sanctuary Cities and Responses

Democratic leaders have increased their resistance to Trump’s immigration agenda, with sanctuary cities continuing to protect illegal immigrants despite administration pressures. In March, mayors from these cities struggled to clearly articulate their stance on whether they would turn over illegal immigrant criminals to ICE during a committee hearing.

In a Fox News appearance, Homan remarked on how much space these discussions seemed to occupy in the minds of some mayors, including Michelle Wu of Boston, joking about how he “lived rent-free” in her thoughts. “I love my job. We’re making America safe again. President Trump has promised to crack down on illegal foreign crime in this country, and that’s exactly what we’re doing,” Homan stated.

Confrontation with Jasmine Crockett

Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett joined the resistance against ICE actions, arguing on MSNBC that unlawful entry into the country should not be treated as a criminal offense. Homan countered her claims in a subsequent Fox Business interview, suggesting that illegal entry is indeed a crime and expressing disappointment in Congress’s failure to understand this fact.

Critique of Media Coverage

As incidents of ICE enforcement increased, nationwide protests erupted against the administration’s immigration policies. In June, CNN’s Claire Duffy reported about an app allowing users to track ICE agents, which Homan condemned as dangerous. He criticized CNN for its coverage, stating that such information could jeopardize the safety of ICE officials.

Homan expressed concerns over a rising trend of attacks on law enforcement, stating, “It’s just disgusting, and the network covering it, too. Attacks on law enforcement have spiked significantly, and this app could lead to ICE agents being ambushed.”
